I've been a patient of Dr. Shah since 2019 and have consistently received top notch service from the practice. Dr. Shah is one of the few doctor's I've experienced that really listens to more than just the words that come out of your mouth.
I had a frustrating billing snafu with Medicare and LabCorp and the Palmetto Medical Group front office stayed on the issue through resolution.

Our family has been going to this practice since we left Mackey Family Practice. We have never had a bad experience. Sometimes it’s difficult to get someone on the phone but the patient portal works very well. I have never had to wait very long for an appointment. I would recommend this practice.

This is the most professional and friendly practice I have ever had the pleasure of using for my health assessment needs. The physicians and front desk clerks are all amazing and I am so thankful for palmetto medical group for being kind, professional and providing the very best care I have ever seen. Thank you to my doctor and nurse and everyone else on staff, everyone here is the best!

I’d like to preface with I do not like leaving negative reviews but this place went downhill after Dr. Daniel Kirkley left. I ended up finding a new doctors office after so many negative experiences here.

First off, my co pay was different each time I came in even though it was put as a sick or wellness check, before I even saw the doctor. Sometimes it was $15, sometimes even $50! When I brought this up to staff at my last appointment, they asked who was working the front desk. I told them who and all they said was “Yeah…she doesn’t work here anymore…” Did she not know how to do her job or was she skimming money? I never got an explanation.

Then, one time I had to see Dr. Shah because Daniel was out. He prescribed me penicillin based antibiotics after I told him I was severely allergic! I had a horrible reaction and ended up going to the ER. My adoptive mother had a similar experience with him but one that could’ve genuinely KILLED her. I attempted to see the female doctor a few times after Daniel left. I did not like her at all. Instead of just prescribing mental health medications that have worked for me for YEARS, she suggested stopping those and just going to therapy. And using essential oils! She said the same to my sister. During my last appointment, the female doctor promised that the shot she was going to give me was covered by insurance and I wouldn’t pay anything. A few weeks later I get a bill for that shot. Over a few HUNDRED dollars.

My sister had a more traumatic experience here. She has diagnosed and documented medical PTSD due to multiple surgeries and accidents growing up. This makes it hard for her to come in, let alone give blood. Daniel knew this and never pressured her to do anything she didn’t want to do. That changed after he left. They told her, spur of the moment, during her last appointment that she would have to give blood to continue being prescribed her medications that she had been taking for YEARS. Non controlled substance based medications. She was practically cornered in the office. The doctors and nurses treated her like she was abusing her medications even though they had zero evidence, and made her have a total breakdown in the office and car after leaving. I understand needing blood work, but to drop that bomb on someone who is already sensitive to medical things is mind boggling.

I also, have not been to the practice in AGES because of this. But I still get texts and emails saying “Thank you for your visit. Pay your bill here.” But I haven’t been there! Front office/supporting staff has also been rude more often than not (Though there were a few girls who were very very sweet!) and would be loud or disruptive during appointments. Imagine talking about something serious and scary with your doctor but then hearing screeches of laughter down the hall from staff talking about inappropriate things. I get it, we’re all adults and we need to let loose at work sometimes…but cmon.

I don’t know what went wrong with this place but it is beyond disappointing.

ABSOLUTE TRASH. Been treated by this practice for going on 2 years and its been nothing but WORK and issues since day 1. If you want to argue with the front desk personnel every time you go there about billing (about getting reimbursed for them overcharging you for example), appointments, redocumenting your insurance information, etc. Be my guest. They are unorganized and have no idea what they are doing. Getting prescription refills is a complete nightmare, they ignore requests from the pharmacy and I have to call and fight with them every month. Communication is terrible. At my last appointment they didnt have my updated insurance information (which I have given them countless times) so instead of using the tools available to them to look up my insurance information or giving me the opportunity to call them when I got home with my insurance information, they said I had to pay out of pocket up front or I couldnt be seen. So, because of their unorganzied administrative staff, I couldnt be seen by the doctor at my scheduled time.My fiance is also treated at the same practice and I cannot stress enough that if you are a patient that is on a medication where you need to be seen every 30 days, DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE. You will not been seen every 30 days and you will not get your prescription refilled on time.
I called and spoke with the office manager who could care less about resolving any of the issues above. If I could give this practice ZERO stars, I would.

A major part of getting well is having a team that you can trust as well as a doctor who listens and communicates directly with the patient. I highly recommend Alexa-Gail Woolery, NP, FNP-C

Dr. Shah and Dr. Woolery are caring practitioners that want to address the root causes of issues I have. Also, the staff are friendly and helpful.
