Being new to Landrum, coming from NY, I needed to find new Drs (that accepted my insurance), well I was referred by a family member to MGC, I had my appt on 3/30 with Mindy Thompson, I can’t say enough great things about this woman who took her time to get my medical history & my needs. I had labs & X-ray done, this morning 3/31 I received a phone call with lab results & X-ray results…..WOW, this was quite impressive. Thank you for your time , efficiency & professionalism. I am 1 happy patient, Respectfully, Kathy Rose Moroney❤️

Just came home from our (my daughter's) first doctor's visit. We had to find a new doctor since our old one left her office. Mindy was recommended to us by several people so I already knew that we'll be in good hands. Stepping into the office, the lady at the desk was very helpful and friendly.
Jennifer was so sweet and nice which took away my daughter's nervousness immediately.
Mindy was very sweet and engaging, my daughter loves her already.
The check out lady was very nice as well.
So overall we had a fantastic experience from start to finish and I am blessed to have found a new doctors office for my whole family.

My whole family to include my elderly father see Mindy Thompson and cannot speak highly enough about her. She listens and she will consult. She has never failed us, never! Our wait time is average or better. The front office staff are busy and at times they can be sharp but a big smile and showing that we appreciate them makes a big difference. We love our Mindy and this clinic.

Dr. Bridges has been my primary care physician for the past 9 years. She is an exceptionally good listener, is very patient and understanding. I have complete trust in her care and she has helped me and my husband both through some pretty difficult health situations. We are blessed to have such a great doctor and, even though we've now moved to Taylors, we are happy to drive the distance to continue seeing her. The staff at Medical Group of the Carolinas has always been wonderful to deal with. Whether it's making a telephone appointment or having to discuss something with billing, I've found the staff to be very professional and pleasant. Highly recommend!

My wife was schedule for a 9am visit. By 9:15 she was still waiting in the lobby and no one had come to let her know what the delay was. I understand that you spend a lot of time waiting in healthcare. But dang it you need to let people know when there is a delay. A doctor's time is no more valuable than the patient's time. And if you are over scheduling, don't do it.

Financially Unethical Practice? System?

I am BCBS and Medicare insured, healthy and maintain excellent physical condition. I scheduled 1 "annual checkup" appointment at this office (Landrum). Although the staff and C. Todd Walter MD were all polite and professional, the facility is clean and modern, the invoice I received for a very short 1st (and last) visit was outrageous.

Almost $1000 for a brief consult including a recommended preventative Shingles vaccination.

An assistant gave the vaccination -and the practice charged over $400 for it, including a surcharge for the Rn (?) to inject. vs. CVS pharmacy within walking distance, which I later discovered, would easily have provided it for a fraction of the cost. Politely refuting their invoice met with a typical modern bureaucratic run-around which predictably went nowhere. Decided to pay the bill in full and immediately change providers. I now understand why the waiting room was otherwise devoid of other patients.

Protecting Consumers During Billing

Researchers and policymakers often point to surprise billing—when a patient is billed for services after unknowingly seeing an out-of-network provider—as a common source of medical debt for consumers. The federal No Surprises Act, which went into effect this month, prohibits surprise billing from out-of-network providers in emergency and nonemergency settings. Specifically, the law prevents providers from billing patients above what they would pay for in-network services.

Prior to the act, 33 states had laws providing some level of protection for consumers against surprise billing. Thus, federal lawmakers deferred to state laws in several key areas and authorized states to enact protections that go beyond federal law. For example, although over half of emergency ground ambulance rides pose a risk of a surprise bill for the privately insured, the new law currently does not include protections for these services. Ten states apply surprise billing protections to ground ambulances; Texas enacted legislation last year to study the issue.

I have been going to this practice for a couple of years and for the life of me I don't know why. I must be lazy and there is not a lot of doctors around. The staff has been mostly indifferent or borderline rude. I put up with that because I could always get a last minute appointment with Dr Nash. Almost all other doctors are booked 3 weeks out but not Dr Nash and I know why. She has been dismissive, unempathetic and doesn't seem to care what you are saying. I do alot of research on my symptoms and everything I suggested she just shrugged off. I am not playing Dr Google either. Some people DO like to be knowledgeable about their health. Well today was my last visit there. Dr Nash your fired!

I called to schedule an appointment this morning. I believe I spoke to a woman named Tammy. After giving her my information she proceeds to tell me with an attitude that because I “didn’t show up” to my appointment in February that I could not make a new appointment. “That’s just their policy”. After explaining to her that I canceled that appointment, I didn’t just not show up she then asked me for my number. Again, with an attitude she explained that she would have to look it over to make sure I actually canceled. She told me she would be calling me back. Never received a call back. Multiple people recommended me to this place and it’s a shame they have such rude people working there.
